Abstract

This article examines the use of metaphorical language in the poetry of Ulugbek Hamdam, a prominent contemporary Uzbek poet. Metaphors in Hamdam’s poetry serve as profound tools to explore complex themes, bridging the personal with the universal, the cultural with the spiritual, and the social with the political. By utilizing metaphor, Hamdam reflects on the human condition, often depicting life as a journey marked by dualities and spiritual growth. His work is deeply rooted in Uzbek cultural and spiritual traditions, while also subtly addressing social and political issues. The simplicity of his language enables a wide audience to connect with his poetry, making it a resonant voice for both individual and collective experiences. Hamdam’s metaphorical language not only enhances the aesthetic value of his work but also serves as a quiet form of resistance and a universal reflection on love, loss, and identity.
